Greetings,
It would take a lot of explaining to list all the symbolism in this type of metaphysical movement; but just a few are the cup and bowl as mentioned in Sufi poetry, there is the tree swaying in the wind and many others. The main thing is the statement of mankind’s dependency on God from whom all good flows; we are only humble creations trying to reach the higher realms. Dr. Lloyd Miller
so wht do the movements mean?i see the twriling of sufis dance rest i cant make out—-??
Beautiful! Thank you!
raghse besiar zibaee bood merci
Salam ya akhi al aziz. Yes this metaphysical music and movement are what I feel represents the original music and dance revealed to prophet Hazrat Davud in the Torah and were practiced in the temple of Hazrat Suleiman. Later this type of spiritual art was taken to Babylon by Nebuchadrezzar and from there to Persia with the Achaemenians. When we go to heaven (enshallah), with or without the 77 virgins, we wil surely enjoy spiritual music and movement something like this video. Dr. Lloyd Miller
Caliphacy Note… fa ana aita!!!!! mashallah this is more than impressive “IT BEAUTIFUL” i have never seen this form of Persian art before… … … the dance/tar are wonderful, such beauty in music/dance… … … iyya halal kasab na’aam iyya halal kasab wa ana qul ka salam wa li antum salam… yes this is a very beautiful piece, and i am hoping to see more like it… oh, and Dr. Lloyd Miller is definitely a master of Persian arts!!!!!
Dear friend. Thank you for your kind remarks. Yes, we worked hard to develop a manner of visualizing the almost sacred traditional music that has been passed down over millenia. So we worked on visualizing it with what we hoped would be a type of sacred dance, something that intellectuals, artists and clerics would appreciate, a representation of what one might expect in the next world and when the 1,000 of spirituality replaces the cultural darkness that has engulfed the world. Dr. L. Miller
Wow, this is exactly how I would imagine a dance to this sort of music. It reminds me of pictures of dancing women that I’ve seen in old paintings. It seems like a genuine and well-interpreted dance to this sort of music.
Thank you for not sexualizing the dance, that would have really taken away from the value of it.
Yaad baad aan roozegaaraani ke khaahad aamad
Our performances are of well-trained ballerinas from University of Utah Dance Department or well-trained dancers from the Brigham Young University folkddance program. We only use purely authentic traditional music and movements that are from long-standing regional ethnic traditions and are respectful representations of cultures correctly interpreted. We rely on spiritual metaphysical concepts and never allow any nightclub or made-up Hollywood sexuall-oriented ‘entertainment.’ Dr. Lloyd Miller
Hey I’m from SLC! well, I moved 10 years ago but I still consider it home. Which dance group?
Dorud, greetings.
She is not performing this type of spiritual erfan dance anymore. But our dance group here in Salt Lake still does this type of spiritual music visualization. See a few of the other YouTube videos on this channel. There a some with better quality digital filming and pantomime of portions of poetry. Dr. Lloyd Miller
Wow, what an amazing piece, like poetry in motion. I wish the quality was better. Any chance she is still performing?
Salam,
The dancer went by the name of Rose and was one of the first Eastern Arts dancers who learned to represent the Dastgahs of the traditional Pesian music Radif with respectful and metaphysical and meaningful movement. Dr. Lloyd Miller
wonderful, can I know the name of this beautiful dancer?
Impressive!

Mersi dustam,
Ma kushesh kardim ke in harakat-e erfani yek nemune-ye rohani bashad ke ehsas-e dunya-ye ravani be binande biyarad.
We tried to make this an example of an other worldly mystic representation which would bring the viewer to a higher spiritual plane. Thank you for your kind remark.

Dr. Miller, Thank you again. Who is playing the Tar in this piece? It is beautiful.
